Living Memories Website

In Multimedia Projects on October 23, 2008 at 1:14 pm

The ‘Living Memories’ website is a holding space for the works of the Production Project 2 ‘Living Memories’ students in their Second Semester of Third Year. It is a creative space that allows the user to view the videos in their own time in an aesthetically pleasing holding space that complements the documentaries. The website is a collaboration between myself, David Carlin, Joelle Low and the ‘Meanwhile’ RMIT Post Graduate students.

*At time of publishing the ‘Living Memories’ website was not complete.

(un)tethered metaphors

In Multimedia Projects on October 23, 2008 at 12:39 pm

‘(un)tethered metaphors’ is an online interactive multimedia project I created in Second Year in First Semester in my subject Integrated Media 1.'(un)tethered metaphors’ further explores ideas from ‘Small Pieces Loosely Joined – A Unified Theory of the Web’ by Peter Weinberger. This project was an individual project which I wholly conceptualised and created myself.

(un)tethered metaphors (2007-Colour-multimedia) – Creator

‘Follow the untethering threads to turn wholes into fragments and fragments into wholes. Explore the relationship between metaphor and the everyday mundane.’

Reverse Propaganda

In Multimedia Projects on October 23, 2008 at 12:21 pm

‘Reverse Propaganda’ was created in Third Year in First Semester in my subject Production Project 1. Basically we had to conceptualise and create a media object based on the theme of ‘control’, in relation to the text ‘Convergence Culture’ by Henry Jenkins.

Reverse Propaganda (2008-Colour-Multimedia Object-varied time) – Producer

‘Making people think what they don’t want to think and challenging beliefs, ‘Reverse Propaganda’ is a timewarp for the mind and social contexts.’

Luft (Air)

In Radio on October 23, 2008 at 11:29 am

‘Luft (Air)’ was a project I completed in First Year for my subject Broadcast Media. We had to create a small documentary radio piece on some sort of theme. We chose to focus on my grandmother, Ivy Lathlean, and her fantastic tale of her partner Jack who was one of the men actually involved in real life in the famous story ‘The Great Escape’.

*Please note that the following version of Luft (Air) is an edited version to avoid any copyright breaches due to music. For access to the full version, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Luft (Air) (2006-Solid State-3min27sec (edited version) 5min04sec (original version)) – Producer/Editor

‘Young love, war, and letters from the inside. Hear Ivy’s entralling story about a love lost and the horrors and hardships of living through the second world war…and ‘escape’ with a bit of ‘gardening’.’

Waffle On

In Documentaries on October 23, 2008 at 11:08 am

‘Waffle On’ is a project I worked on in First Year in my subject Broadcast Media. What we had to do was create an informational segment similar to programs like ‘Melbourne Weekender’ and ‘Postcards’ and so on. We chose to base our segment on the Melbourne Weekender program. We had to source our own subject and create our own treatment and script. We chose to present on ‘Waffle On’, a popular waffle cafe in Degraves Street in Melbourne’s CBD.

Waffle On (2006-Colour-DV-4:3-4min55sec) – Presenter

‘Take your taste buds on a journey with Alexandra Todorov as she visits Waffle On, creators of argueably the most famous waffles in Melbourne. With French hosts and a secret recipe in store, Waffle On certainly is a treat for the senses.’

Trolley Boy

In Documentaries on October 23, 2008 at 10:53 am

‘Trolley Boy’ was a Second Year production that I completed in Second Semester, for my subject TV2. What we had to do was create a documentary on the theme of ‘belief’, treatment and all. We decided to focus on the belief in learning, and overcoming/learning to cope with something difficult like a learning disability. Our focus was the lovely Robert who really has a heart of gold.

Trolley Boy (2007-Colour-DV-4:3-6min34sec) – Editor

‘Robert is a trolley boy, but he’s many other things as well. Follow him into his classroom, his world of learning and his life experiences and see how much it all means to him.’

Ticket

In Films on October 22, 2008 at 2:26 am

‘Ticket’ was a Second Year film production that I was involved in for my subject TV1. What we were required to do was to make a short film from a script that someone else in our year had written. The theme for the script writing process was ‘moviegoing’. This was my first experience shooting in DV CAM.

Ticket (2007-Colour-DV CAM-16:9-3min22sec) – Director

‘When Shawn can’t find the movie ticket that he wrote that hot girl’s phone number on, all hell breaks loose. Nothing can go right for Shawn, but little does he know exactly what he wants is about to land right on his doorstep.’
